Origin: What 298 Women Told Us About Pelvic Floor Therapy
Origin is a leading US provider of pelvic floor physical therapy and whole-body musculoskeletal care for women, specialising in incontinence, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, menopause, and sexual health.
60 Decibels partnered with Origin to independently measure the impact of that care on their patients. Between April and May 2026 we surveyed 298 patients online and conducted 10 in-depth phone follow-ups. Patients spanned every stage of adulthood — from 18 to 85 years old — and every mode of care Origin offers: virtual, in-person, and hybrid. Our findings, alongside Origin’s clinical outcomes white paper of 4,662 patients, form the evidence base for their 2026 State of Pelvic Health Report.

Origin is often a first-of-its-kind service — for women who’ve already been looking
Patients span every stage of adulthood: from 18 to 85 years old, with a median age of 34. For 81%, Origin is the first pelvic floor service of its kind they’ve used. But most weren’t new to seeking help — 87% had looked elsewhere first, mostly through specialists (66%) or their primary care provider (44%). Of those, 70% say Origin is much better than what they’d tried before, pointing to specialised expertise and a more personalised approach.
Patients arrive with long-standing pain, eased in just a few sessions
32% of patients had lived with symptoms for three or more years before finding Origin, and 46% had come to believe those symptoms were simply something they had to live with. Yet once in care, 82% report improvements to their physical health, and 78% see them within 2 to 6 sessions. Patients who follow their at-home programme more consistently report the biggest gains.
Cost and information — not stigma — are the biggest barriers to care
40% of patients told us they faced a significant barrier before starting care. High costs (60%) and limited information about what pelvic floor therapy could offer (47%) topped the list, followed by time constraints (38%). These are structural barriers — insurance coverage remains inconsistent, and reimbursement rates often don’t reflect the specialised nature of the care. Untreated, these conditions drive billions in downstream healthcare spending.
The impact goes well beyond physical health
When Origin’s patients report improvement, it isn’t only physical. 89% say their symptom management is better, 91% understand their own health better, 73% see gains in mental wellbeing, 66% in self-confidence, 52% in intimacy, and 43% in their work life — showing up as less pain on the job and reduced anxiety or shame around it. Pelvic health, in patients’ own words, is whole-body health.
